Manchester United star linked with shock Chelsea transfer amid heartbreaking England Euros snub

Chelsea register interest in struggling Marcus Rashford

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has been linked with a move to Chelsea FC in the upcoming summer transfer window, per The Telegraph, amid his struggling form in front of goal.

The Blues will be looking to sign high-ceiling players in the off-season, and who better to bring to the Bridge than a highly acclaimed English star who is regarded as one of the best ballers in the country?

Chelsea need an experienced figure in a relatively young attack that knows the league by the back of his palm to ensure he can provide leadership and guidance to the younger players.

For Rashford, he has endured a difficult season at Old Trafford. The United Academy graduate has found it difficult to find his feet under Erik Tan Hag in the recently concluded season, as the 26-year-old has only scored 8 goals in 42 appearances this season, which comes as a massive letdown from his tally of 30 goals in 56 games last season.

These problems in front of goal have led to his omission from Gareth Southgate’s 33-man provisional England squad for EURO 2024 this summer.

Manchester United will look to a possible Rashford exit as a financial coup, as that could save them hefty £375,000 a week wages; however, it is to be seen if they sell to their direct rivals.

Chelsea sold Mason Mount to Manchester United last summer, and the likes of Kai Havertz and Jorginho have made their way to Arsenal from the West Londoners under the new ownership, which suggests a keenness to do business with rivals. However, it is to be seen if Manchester United would reciprocate a similar openness to selling to their League rivals.
