PSG got a £43 million deal for Chelsea target amid Pochettino’s departure
Chelsea could do nothing as Paris Saint-Germain had a final agreement for the transfer of Ligue 1 star defender Leny Yoro with a £43 million transfer. The Blues had their eyes on the 18-year-old star, seeing him as a potential Thiago Silva replacement.
After the sudden departure of manager Mauricio Pochettino, Chelsea’s summer transfer business could need to wait a few weeks. The beloved Chelsea boss stepped down from his post as manager with mutual consent only after the first year of his Chelsea tenure.
Even though the 2023–24 season ended with success, Pochettino and the club administration decided he would go, with the primary goal being to find a new manager. The boss’s exit will probably have a significant impact on the Blues’ transfer dealings, with Conor Gallagher‘s future now very much in doubt.
Chelsea missed out on big opportunity
Yoro has made 44 appearances this season in all competitions, enjoying a fantastic breakout performance at Lille. The centre-back has demonstrated his ability to battle with great strikers and his potential to become a world-class defender.
According to previous reports, Chelsea were ready with big money to sign the 18-year-old. Unfortunately, they couldn’t do much as they are now dealing with a managerial transfer on their priority list.
Instead of continuing to lavish enormous sums of money on established players who are 25 years of age and older, Chelsea is concentrating on acquiring the next generation of superstars. With plans for a managerial transfer, Chelsea would have to cut back on their transfer amounts to maintain the balance in their books.
Chelsea was in 12th place in the Premier League standings last season and they saw a significant rise comparatively as they landed in sixth place this time. After hanging in mid-table area for the majority of the season, they ended their season with significant improvement.

Pochettino was undoubtedly seeming to be a very positive member of the Chelsea staff. Only if he was given a bit more time with the Blues we might have seen some title-winning spree in the upcoming season.
