Jamie Redknapp warns Chelsea against taking ‘crazy decision’ ahead of next season

Jamie Redknapp says Chelsea will be crazy to sack Mauricio Pochettino

Jamie Redknapp has urged Chelsea to continue with Mauricio Pochettino and insisted he is the right manager to lead the Blues to glory after the Blues rallied to secure a 3-2 win against Nottingham Forest.

Despite a dismal beginning to his tenure at Chelsea, manager Mauricio Pochettino has managed to bring the team around. After a prolonged stretch of time spent in 10th place, the Blues are currently seventh, level on points with sixth-place Newcastle United.

There are massive hopes that Chelsea will finish sixth in the league and qualify for the Europa League next season, as the Blues now have two matches left and a win could see them end the season on high.

This could save Pochettino’s job, who has been scrutinised for his work, and former Liverpool player Redknapp has insisted that the Blues should keep Pochettino. Speaking to Sky Sports, he said,

‘’I genuinely think there has been dialogue that’s been very positive for Mauricio, and I think next year he will be the manager, by the looks of it. I think it would be crazy not to do that. I think you’ve got a lot of young players there that need a little bit of guidance and a bit of time, and I certainly think he’s the right man.’’

At last, Pochettino is successfully carrying out the expected tasks, and the games reflect this. It was clear that it would take him a season to flip things around, but things are finally starting to fall into place as his strategies pay off and players are playing at their best.

Mauricio Pochettino’s future will be assessed after the end of the season.

Since the squad had so many inexperienced players and was beset by injuries at the beginning of the season, it was inevitable that he would find it difficult to turn this group into a competitive one during the season. Regardless of how pragmatic he is, every manager needs time to assemble a team, therefore we must have faith in him and support him.

We’re hoping that for the upcoming season, we’ll have a fully fit roster and make smart additions. Pochettino ought to have some influence over the transfer window to get the players he desires and assemble a team that will be a trophy contender.
