Romano believes Chelsea to make four signings this summer, including Arsenal target
The transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, reveals Chelsea’s summer transfer plans, which might consist of four new additions to the Chelsea squad, including Arsenal target, Benjamin Sesko.
Chelsea are entering a new era this summer with the sudden sacking of their boss, Mauricio Pochettino. Enzo Maresca is joining the Blues as their new head coach. The club will now focus on their other transfer targets.
It is no secret that the club evidently lacks in several areas. The new manager would certainly like to make some significant changes and bring in some additions to bolster the squad and prepare for the upcoming season.
Fabrizio Romano, in his Daily Briefing column, revealed Chelsea’s transfer plans. He said:
“So, that will be ‘here we go’ soon and then it will continue to be a busy summer at Chelsea. It won’t be completely crazy but they will try to make smart things happen, including a new goalkeeper and I expect them to try for at least one new centre-back, but it could be two.”
“I also expect Chelsea to be busy with the striker position, and I mentioned many times Benjamin Sesko, who is highly rated at Chelsea but also by others like Arsenal and Manchester United.”
In a €24 million agreement, Benjamin Sesko left Red Bull Salzburg to join RB Leipzig last summer. Before establishing himself as a fixture for the Bundesliga team, the Slovenian international had to wait his turn and seemed disgruntled throughout the first part of the 2023–24 campaign.
The 20-year-old prodigy made 42 appearances across all competitions in just 2,057 minutes of play time, finishing the season with a respectable total of 18 goals and 2 assists. Meanwhile, elite teams like Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur were also impressed by Sesko’s growth.
It is true that Romano also revealed that Chelsea might see four signings this summer. They currently have their eyes on James Trafford to fix their goalkeeping issues. The Blues also realise the need to bolster their defensive area, as their leading candidate in the area is Fulham’s defender Tosin.
Chelsea has demonstrated over the last two years that they are willing to spend a lot of money to enhance their team, and we have no doubt that they won’t be opposed to doing so this time around as well, as long as the PSR and FFP regulations let it.
