A View From The Bridge

Romano admits ex-Chelsea manager wants to return to the Premier League ahead of next season

Fabrizio Romano confirms former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is open to a return to the Premier League

Former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel appears to be eyeing a return to the Premier League, although his immediate focus remains on Bayern Munich’s Champions League campaign. His tenure with Die Roten hasn’t met expectations, with the team falling short in the domestic title race. Now, their focus shifts to the Champions League, where they face a tough challenge against Real Madrid.

Despite the speculation linking Tuchel with managerial positions at Manchester United and West Ham United, his plans for the future remain uncertain. Fabrizio Romano’s confirmation via his Daily Briefing suggests that any decision regarding Tuchel’s next move will likely come after the conclusion of Bayern Munich’s season.

Tuchel’s track record as a manager, particularly his success at Chelsea where he won the Champions League, makes him an attractive prospect for clubs seeking managerial stability and success. As the season draws to a close, the football world will be watching closely to see where Tuchel’s next chapter unfolds.

“Thomas Tuchel is not speaking to any other club at the moment; his full focus is on the Champions League. Then, of course, if he leaves Bayern, he’s open to considering opportunities, and I’m told he’d be more than happy to return to the Premier League one day.”

”The only chance to stay at Bayern now is if the board members ask him to do so and present a new project. Let’s see if they will do that because, at this point, they haven’t yet.”

What appears to be a certain parting of the ways in Bavaria is now far from a given. Given that Bayern continue to be rejected by their top managerial targets, it remains to be seen if they will swallow a bitter pill and rekindle their faith in Tuchel.

Chelsea are showing signs of progress under Mauricio Pochettino- slow yet progressing. While Tuchel still has his fans at Stamford Bridge, it is debatable if restarting our rebuild at this stage is the best bet. After all, even Jose Mourinho’s second coming ended in tears.

Tuchel’s managerial credentials shouldn’t be overshadowed by Bayern’s league performance this season. His track record, especially his success at Chelsea, showcases his tactical acumen and ability to achieve results at the highest level.

Continuing with Tuchel might have yielded different outcomes for Chelsea under Boehly’s ownership. We will never know.
