Chelsea tipped to sign Rodrygo to help Nicolas Jackson next season
The former Chelsea star midfielder Emmanuel Petit insists the Blues sign Real Madrid star Rodrygo. According to the Chelsea legend, Rodrygo can help Nicolas Jackson in the coming season.
Rodrygo has been a standout player for the La Liga superstars this season. The youngster has impressed everyone in the football community by scoring 10 goals and providing five assists in his 34 appearances in the Premier League last season.
There is no doubt about the fact that Chelsea has been struggling with some issues regarding their offensive side. With attackers like Nicolas Jackson failing to convert the decent chances they are receiving, the club is failing to score goals.
Petit wants the Blues to sign Rodrygo so that he can play alongside Jackson, helping him push his limits and unlock his potential as well. According to a report from Football London, the former Chelsea defender said:
“I think Chelsea should sign Rodrygo from Real Madrid to help Nicolas Jackson next season. With Mbappe arriving next season, one of Real’s big stars are going to be out of the XI, so I think this one makes sense for both parties.”
“Real Madrid could get a big fee and he will also be great for Jackson, although he is still young.”
Jackson had a 28% conversion rate in the Premier League in the recent season. He has hit a total of 25 shots and missed 18 of them. He has also been hit with a lot of criticism for failing to perform for Chelsea, unlike what was expected.
Moreover, Real Madrid have an offensive star arriving at their club, most likely this summer. With Mbappe coming, Madrid is going to make space for him in the playing XI, so it certainly makes sense if they decide to let Rodrygo go.
It is understood that neither Rodrygo wants to leave the club nor Madrid wants to let him go. Moreover, they have put a staggering €1 billion exit clause on his new contract, which will run until 2028.
Chelsea’s transfer situation this season has been chaotic, with Mauricio Pochettino lasting just one season with the club before leaving at the end of the current season, with Leicester City’s Enzo Maresca set to take the reins.

Although it is highly doubtful that the 23-year-old would be willing to leave Real Madrid, if he were to join Chelsea, he might have turned out to be a solution to the Blues’ offensive issues. But the hefty price of €1 billion is no joke and the Blues certainly can’t afford that.
