A View From The Bridge

Chelsea to make ‘considerable push’ for Real Madrid target playing in Germany

Chelsea is keen on stealing the Real Madrid target, who is currently in Germany

According to recent reports by Standard UK, Chelsea is willing to secure the services of Alphonso Davies, who plays for the German club Bayern Munich. The Blues are planning to hijack the star as he is a Real Madrid target.

The links between Davies and Madrid have been circulating for a couple of months. Although the star player has a desire to play for the La Liga winners, Madrid has not yet made any concrete offers for the 23-year-old.

With Enzo Maresca arriving at Chelsea as the new head coach, the Blues are entering a new era this summer. The new boss must be willing to restructure the squad and bolster the roster to prepare them for the next season.

The Canadian international has been a standout player for Bayern for a number of years, and as his contract at the Allianz Arena approaches its end, one can only assume that there will be a lot of interest in him.

The Munich star’s valuation is most likely around €50–60 million. This might be an issue for the La Liga superstars because they are not willing to move any further at this asking price. Chelsea can certainly overtake the Spanish club if they are willing to fulfil Munich’s demands.

With 42 appearances for Bayern Munich this season in all competitions and a 9 G/A contribution, Davies has certainly established himself as one of their key players. Chelsea could really use someone like him in their squad.

Davies could certainly do wonders at Chelsea

With the subpar performances of Marc Cucurella and Ben Chilwell being away due to injuries, the Blues need a reliable player like Alphonso, who would be a support pillar in Chelsea’s XI.

Real Madrid will play in the Champions League final on Saturday, so the Spanish powerhouses will probably hold off on completing any transfers until after the conclusion of the biggest game in Europe. For the time being, the La Liga winners’ primary attention is probably on waiting to announce the acquisition of Kylian Mbappe.

There are huge chances of Real Madrid signing Davies but if they do not act on it for too long, Chelsea wouldn’t hesitate to hijack him. It will be interesting to see which direction this transfer battle takes in the upcoming weeks.
