According to French outlet L’Équipe, Armando Broja is on the shortlist of AS Monaco among the potential strikers to replace departing Wissam Ben Yedder’. Yedder spent four years at Monaco, accumulating 16 goals and 32 league games this season.
The striker has been a consistent player throughout his time at the club, and now his exit will put a big hole in their No. 9 position, but Les Monégasques believes Chelsea striker Broja could fill Yedder’s shoes at the club.
Broja, who was sent on loan to Fulham in January, spent the entire season on the bench, and his time at Chelsea was also ravaged by injuries. The Blues are now considering selling the Albanian striker, whose time has so far been spent at Chelsea.
Broja’s value at the team was further diminished by the addition of Nicolas Jackson, who scored 14 league goals as the team’s first-choice striker the previous season. Should Chelsea decide to add another striker this summer, Broja’s playing time will only be more challenging.
A move away is now more sensible for the forward, where he can get enough playing time and continue his smooth development. This season, he barely played despite going on loan to Fulham. Joining Monaco will be a good decision, as Ligue 1 will be the perfect league to grow in.
We have seen that Angelo Gabriel and Andrey Santos, who became standout players for Strasbourg last season, can also do wonders for Broja. He has all the makings of an exceptional striker, but he deserves more playing time. If he performs well at Monaco, he will undoubtedly blossom into one of the best center-forwards.
However, Chelsea values Broja at £50 million, and it could prove to be tough for the French giants, so both clubs could enter into negotiations, and it will be interesting to see how much Monaco will be open to paying.
