Christopher Nkunku shared a photo on his Instagram donning the jersey of former club RB Leipzig. Nkunku joined Chelsea last summer but rather endured a difficult time that was hampered by injuries.

However, Chelsea pre-signed Nkunku for a fee worth £52m, but the forward arrived last summer and also joined the club during a pre-season tour to the USA. His performance made the Blues fans excited, as they couldn’t wait to see the Frenchman in a Blues jersey during the season.

But in an unfortunate incident, Nkunku suffered a knee injury and had to undergo surgery, which kept him out until December, missing most of the season. Despite returning from an injury, the 25-year-old continued to have major injury setbacks and had to spend an extended period of time on the sidelines.

After Chelsea and Mauricio Pochettino parted ways on mutual consent, Nkunku has not been included in the France Euro 2024 preliminary squad. This is a great relief for him as it will let him improve his fitness for the remainder of the season and maybe return with a flying start the following campaign under a new coach.

The forward hopes to replicate his Leipzig form at Chelsea, as he ended the season with the most goals and won the Bundesliga Golden Boot despite being out injured with a knee injury. Nkunku is only one of the seasoned players who will be valuable next term and help the club with their development.

Christopher Nkunku will be hoping to make big difference next season.

He showed the Blues at Leipzig what he was capable of, which led to the club signing him. If he remains fit next season, we can expect him to make a huge difference for us because he brings a lot of things to the table and offers discipline in the attacking position. He thrives under pressure to make better decisions during the final third of the game.

This season, had he been there, we could have finished the season on a much stronger note because his presence adds so much quality to the squad and he brings composure during attacks. He will be important under the next head coach next season.
