Chelsea planning summer exit of Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah

Mauricio Pochettino’s exit means Chelsea could sell two homegrown players, Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah, in order to make a profit. But it could act as another problem for the upcoming manager, who would want to have his input during the summer window.

According to the Telegraph (subscription required), (h/t Express), Gallagher is rated at £50 million and Chalobah at £25 million, and both have attracted interest from plenty of clubs. Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing the midfielder.

The 24-year-old made strides under Pochettino and became an integral part of the club. He was also trusted with the captain’s armband when both Reece James and Ben Chilwell were out injured, while Chalobah made a late appearance after injuries hampered his half of his season.

But the England international managed to bounce back and instantly became a key player under Pochettino. The 52-year-old has thought highly of both players and gave them a chance to prove their mettle.

But with Pochettino’s exit, it will be interesting to see what the next manager has to say about Gallagher and Chalobah’s future. Chelsea views the players as revenue generators in addition to their contributions to the team; this campaign will undoubtedly bring in a sizable sum of money that the team needs to meet FFP requirements.

It will be another disastrous decision because both Gallagher and Chalobah have shown that they should be a mainstay of the club next season. But the current financial issue will once again see the bulk of players sold, like last summer.

Trevoh Chalobah future once again is doubtful next season.

Many will question his technical ability, but we need Gallagher next season because he was available the majority of the time when most of our players were injured. Conor is the one player who can positionally cover your entire midfield in whatever formation, free up Marc Cucurella to play the inverted role (taking care of the left wing), and assist Moises Caicedo in developing into a beast.

Chalobah, meantime, established his importance when he recovered from an injury. But the decision lies with the club board, and whatever they do will be the final decision.
