As per Football.London, Chelsea star Romeo Lavia has returned to grass training after the midfielder posted a photo of him training ahead of the Nottingham Forest game. Since joining the club, the midfielder has made only one appearance, as a substitute in December, before being ruled out of the majority of the campaign with another injury.
Chelsea and Liverpool engaged in a heated battle to secure the signature of the talented Belgium midfielder. Despite Liverpool being on the brink of finalizing the deal, Chelsea managed to clinch the transfer. Lavia’s arrival at Stamford Bridge generated considerable excitement following his stellar performances for Southampton in the previous season.
However, Lavia’s promising start was marred by a string of unfortunate injuries. He suffered an initial setback shortly after joining Chelsea, sidelining him until December. Unfortunately, his woes continued as he endured another significant injury later that month, keeping him out of action for the majority of the season.
Lavia’s return to training offers a glimmer of hope for Chelsea fans, as indicated by his recent Instagram post showing him running at the Surrey-based training complex with the caption “stoicism”. However, with only three matches remaining in the season, there’s uncertainty about his availability for those fixtures.
Given the limited time left in the campaign and considering the 20-year-old’s recent fitness challenges, it’s doubtful whether he’ll be match-fit in time to participate. If he does end up missing out on these crucial games, it would mark a disappointing conclusion to what has been a challenging season for the midfielder.
Lavia’s solitary training session suggests a cautious approach by Chelsea regarding his injury recovery. While the club will undoubtedly prioritize his health and assess his condition before any match, there may still be a chance for him to feature in a few matches before the season’s end. However, it’s clear that Chelsea will proceed with caution to avoid any setbacks in his rehabilitation process.
It’s disappointing that Lavia’s development was disrupted by injuries this season. However, with proper rehabilitation and care, there’s hope that he’ll return stronger for the next campaign. As Chelsea looks ahead to challenging for trophies and titles under Pochettino, having Lavia fully fit and available will undoubtedly strengthen the squad and provide more options in midfield. Here’s to hoping for a successful and injury-free season for him next time around.
