Chelsea make contract proposal to Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo

According to Daily Mail, Chelsea have sent a contract to Tosin Adarabioyo in the hope of signing him. The Fulham defender is set to become a free agent next month, but the player is already in talks about joining Newcastle United.

Many Premier League clubs have shown interest in signing the 26-year-old besides Chelsea, who have now sent a proposal to land the centre-back before any other club swoops in. Adarabioyo has appeared in 27 games in all competitions this season and has been with the Cottagers for four years.

Last season, the club had one of the worst defensive records, conceding one of the most goals in the league. Chelsea’s backline has been too leaky, and they have easily conceded goals. The club also saw the exit of Thiago Silva and will look to find his replacement.

Chelsea are also keen on selling Trevoh Chalobah for £25 million as they attempt to generate profit. Adarabioyo has been playing in the Premier League, and given that he is a free agent, the Blues won’t have to spend a penny on him.

Our present centre-backs are inexperienced and tend to get vulnerable against a big side; this should be addressed this summer, thus the club needs to buy a reliable defender with pedigree who can bring consistency.

Chelsea wants to add another defender Tosin Adarabioyo to the squad next season.
Chelsea wants to add another defender Tosin Adarabioyo to the squad next season.

Adarabioyo fits the bill in this category and provides enough English top-flight experience at the back. but currently we are stacked with centre-backs with the likes of Benoît Badiashile, Axel Disasi, Levi Colwill, a returning Wesley Fofana, and Alfie Gilchrist.

Where will Adarabioyo start off, then? Given that Disasi and Badiashile had a lack of discipline at the back last season and appeared to be still learning, it makes more sense to recruit the Fulham defender, whose experience will provide stability and certainty to the backline. In addition, he will take over the Brazilian centre back in the dressing room with demonstrable leadership abilities.
