A View From The Bridge

Chelsea call in-demand PL manager to tell him he is out of their shortlist

Fabrizio Romano says Chelsea called Kieran Mckenna to inform him he is out of their shortlist

Fabrizio Romano revealed that Chelsea called Ipswich Town head coach Kieran McKenna to inform him he had been removed from their managerial shortlist. The Blues included the top four head coaches in the list, and McKenna made the list along with Enzo Maresca, Ruben Amorim, and Roberto De Zerbi.

The Blues shortened the list to only two managers, De Zerbi and Maresca, and now a fresh report claims Chelsea are closing in on making the Leicester manager their next head coach for the upcoming season.

The Blues parted ways with Mauricio Pochettino exactly a week ago and later started their search for a new manager. With many names coming to the fore, Chelsea made a shortlist of them and assessed which head coaches were best suited to the current squad.

Now that Maresca is emerging as a potential candidate to take the hot seat at Stamford Bridge, Romano has disclosed that the Blues informed Ipswich manager he is not on their radar anymore. Speaking on Daily Briefing, he said:

‘’It’s important to clarify another big story on managers, as Chelsea called Kieran McKenna to inform him that he was no longer in the race to become their manager.’’

Mckenna may not have convinced the Blues that he is an ideal head coach to lead this young team. The club wants a manager who likes to play possession-based football, and out of four managers, the Italian stands out among them as he has worked under Pep Guardiola and is well aware of highly possession-based football.

Chelsea are close to appointing Enzo Maresca as new coach.

Chelsea is taking steps forward with Maresca and getting close to choosing him, however, there will be a variety of reasons for this. Additionally, he has helped several of the club’s younger players mature, which will help our team grow further the next season. Cole Palmer will undoubtedly succeed, having helped him emerge from the City’s academy.

However, the club has not yet announced the identity of our future manager. Whoever the candidate is, they will have enormous pressure to succeed since firing Pochettino would be a grave mistake on the board’s part if he cannot accomplish so.
