A View From The Bridge

“They’re playing very, very well”- Bournemouth manager wary of Chelsea threat as both clubs look to end the season on a high

Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola is aware of the threat that Chelsea possess

In the final match day of the 2023/24 season, Chelsea will face Bournemouth, with both clubs aiming to finish strongly. Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola expressed admiration for the current Blues squad, recognizing their quality and potential.

The Cherries had a rocky start to the season, languishing in the relegation zone and struggling to secure victories. However, under his leadership, the team has climbed to 11th place and ensured their safety in the league. With a win against Chelsea, Bournemouth could potentially break into the top 10, marking a remarkable turnaround.

Chelsea, on the other hand, is targeting a sixth-place finish. A victory could secure them a spot in European competition for the following season. The Blues have seen significant improvement under Mauricio Pochettino, who has brought stability and renewed confidence to the squad. Pochettino will be keen to end the campaign on a high note with a convincing win.

Before the game, Iraola was met with plenty of questions and was asked about the Blues’ current form. Speaking to the club’s official site, he said:

“They are finishing very strong. They have very good individual threats. They have recovered some injured players, which gives them more options as well. I think it is going to be very difficult because the level they are playing now is very, very high.”

Bournemouth have managed to salvage their season after battling relegation mid-campaign to reach the 11th spot. They will be a tricky side to face in the final game of the season. For Chelsea, this match is crucial. A loss could see Newcastle United leapfrog them into sixth place, potentially leaving Chelsea in eighth if both the Magpies and Manchester United win their respective matches.

Will Mauricio Pochettino remain Chelsea boss next season?

Chelsea, aiming for a sixth-place finish to secure European competition next season, cannot afford to slip up. Mauricio Pochettino has brought stability and improvement to the team, and he will be keen to end the campaign on a high note.

The stakes are high for Chelsea, as they must secure all three points to fend off competition from Newcastle and Manchester United. It would be a solid way to end what has been a rather underwhelming campaign.

The Cherries have won only two of their last eight matches, and the last encounter between these two sides ended in a 0-0 draw. This time, with the majority of players available, Mauricio Pochettino will have plenty of options at his disposal. Let’s hope we can win the game and wrap up the campaign in the best possible way.
