Well, well, well, it seems the transfer saga of Estevao Willian has taken yet another twist, with Bayern Munich throwing their hat into the ring at the eleventh hour. Just when Chelsea thought they had the Palmeiras wonderkid in the bag, the German giants have swooped in, looking to steal the Brazilian sensation from under their noses.
That is as per Goal Brazil‘s Thiago Fernandes via Twitter. Bayern are making a last-ditch attempt to snatch up the highly-touted winger, despite Willian being deep in talks with Chelsea. It’s a classic case of too little, too late, or is it? Bayern have wasted no time in making their move, initiating contact with the 17-year-old and aiming to secure his signature before the summer of 2025.
The Blues have made their third bid for Willian, tabling an offer in the region of €35m. Not too shabby for a 17-year-old, eh? But it seems Bayern are gearing up to top that, with whispers of a bid that’ll trump Chelsea’s offer but still fall short of the starlet’s hefty release clause of €45m.
The tension mounts as both clubs engage in a battle for the ages over the next big thing in Brazilian football. The drama unfolds as negotiations intensify, with Bayern flexing their financial muscle in an attempt to lure Willian to the Allianz Arena. Meanwhile, Chelsea remains steadfast in their pursuit, unwilling to relinquish their grasp on the prodigious young talent without a fight. It’s not tough to see why these clubs are engaging in a transfer battle for the player. He’s dubbed the new Messi, he’s called Messinho.
Having said that, any team will have to wait until the summer of 2025 to physically welcome Willian into the fold, thanks to pesky age restrictions on transfers of players under 18. Let’s see how it goes. Chelsea have the added benefit of personal terms already being agreed, but Bayern are obviously a top club and can lure any player away.
It’s a waiting game filled with uncertainty and anticipation. Will be a cracker of an ending to this transfer saga. Hopefully, he joins the Blues and makes Stamford Bridge his own.
So, who will ultimately triumph in this battle of titans? Will Chelsea fend off Bayern’s late charge and secure the signature of the prodigious young talent? Or will Bayern swoop in and steal him away, leaving Chelsea with egg on their faces? Only time will tell.
