Gunners target Feyenoord left-back Hartman after Zinchenko woes
Chelsea’s Premier League rivals Arsenal have expressed interest in signing Feyenoord left-back Quilindschy Hartman in the upcoming summer transfer window. He was of interest to the Blues in January; however, the 22-year-old rejected a move to West London.
Todd Boehly & Co. expressed interest in singing the Feyenoord starlet in the winter window, only for him to reject a move to Chelsea as he did not fancy moving in mid-season as Hartman had his eyes set on a Netherlands call-up to the upcoming European Championships. To be fair, he was leading the race to board the flight to Germany until he was forced to undergo surgery following a knee injury picked up in March. The injury will keep him on the sidelines until next season, and possibly until 2025.
Arsenal are looking to sign a new left-back following underwhelming Oleksandr Zinchenko performances in the recently concluded season. They are looking at the Dutchman; however, following his injury, a summer move can be ruled out, per The Telegraph.
A Cheaper alternative to Cucurella for Chelsea?
Hartman did indicate that he would be ready to move once the season concludes, and with Arne Slot leaving Feyenoord, he may as well bid adieu to the Dutch club soon.
He still has two years left on his current deal with the Rotterdam-based club and could leave for as little as £17 million, per Footbal.London.
Quilindschy Hartman was linked with a move to Burnley last summer; however, his stick has compounded since, despite the injury setback.
For Chelsea, as of now, the Blues do have Ben Chilwell and Marc Cucurella in his position; however, they might still be interested in bringing in a younger, potentially cheaper option like Hartman for depth and competition in the left-back position, especially with Chilwell’s injury history.
