Another Caicedo caper? Chelsea target Koopmeiners amidst Liverpool interest
Chelsea FC are looking to sign Atalanta midfielder and Liverpool target Teun Koopmeiners in the upcoming summer transfer window as the Blues continue to bolster the roster at Mauricio Pochettino’s disposal with world-class talents.
While Teun Koopmeiners has been subject to boundless claims for a move to Liverpool, Chelsea are looking to swipe out another midfielder from under the Red’s noses, very much Moisés Caicedo-esque.
Will Koopmeiners be Pochettino’s summer splash? Chelsea make move
Chelsea, per Tutto Atalanta, are ready to make a significant advance for a move to bring the Dutch midfielder to Stamford Bridge, as the Blues remain extremely keen on acquiring his services. While his current employers will demand somewhere along the lines of €60 million for their star midfielder, it is believed that a deal could be done around €50 million.
Koopmeiners has been a key player in Gian Piero Gasperini’s midfield, boasting a tally of 15 goals and 7 assists in all competitions this season. Chelsea, and Todd Boehly in particular, would love for him to replicate that by wearing the Blues badge next season.
Mauricio Pochettino has had an inconsistent campaign, and he will be looking to build on the second wave that the club has found off-late. Signing players that are young and have high potential has been the Blues’ transfer motto lately; however, in Teun Koopmeiners, they will get someone fitting that motto, complemented by exemplary experience at the top level. The 26-year-old boasts the physical and technical attributes that could take him far in the Premier League.
