Cole Palmer dismisses one of the player comments from Chelsea captain Reece James
Cole Palmer’s humble response to the reporter will win over fans after the former Manchester City forward played down being the best Chelsea player this season. The £40m signing has been the Blues’ mainstay, leading their attack and recording 21 goals in the Premier League.
Palmer’s exploits this season have been recognised by the Premier League, and the player has been inducted into the Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year categories. It appeared he will compete with Erling Haaland for the Golden Boot.
But the Norwegian four goals against the Wolves saw him go above him by four goals. However, Palmer’s goal-scoring prowess this season has seen him put his name among the elites of the Premier League this campaign.
The forward had an assist to his name in Chelsea’s 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest, and following the match, Blues captain Reece James lauded Palmer’s performance, (h/t Express), and said:
“Cole is one of the best in the world, I think personally. You’ve seen what he can do when he gets his chance.’’
Meanwhile, Palmer, who was standing next to James, downplayed those comments and issued a humble response, saying:
“I wouldn’t go that far, but obviously it’s nice to hear. I’m just trying to keep my feet on the ground, taking it as it comes.’’
Palmer is only 22, so it could be too soon to declare him one of the top players, and once you start labelling someone as the best, it seems to put them under constant pressure. Palmer, though, is aware that his play this season is deserving of the Best Player award because he has undoubtedly improved Chelsea since joining.

It will be intriguing to see if he wins any of the accolades because the league emphasised his achievement by including him in the lists for Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year. However, considering his season-long efforts, he most definitely merits an award for this.
