Thiago Silva sends message to Chelsea fans after ‘cruel’ Sheffield United encounter

Thiago Silva was in the starting lineup in Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Sheffield United

Thiago Silva returned to the starting lineup in the Chelsea match against Sheffield United and was on the scoresheet in a 2-2 draw with the relegation-threatened side. The Blues played a horrible match that ultimately resulted in a tie even though they had several chances to win.

Silva made his feelings known with his latest post on Instagram, with the caption “A cruel end for the team. Thank you for joining us one more day’’ with a blue emoji. The Blues completely dominated the game, but their habit of conceding goals doesn’t seem to go away.

Silva opened the scoring in just 11 minutes of the match. But the home side exerted pressure and deservingly scored an equaliser through Jayden Bogle in the 32nd minute.

The Blues pushed to extend their lead, and it was Noni Madueke whose curling shot beat Ivo Grbic to put the Blues ahead in the game. Sheffield once again spoiled the party for visitors and managed to level the score in the dying minutes of the match when Oliver McBurnie gave the home side something to enjoy.

For us, it was just another dismal game. We should have had a commanding lead and should have triumphed in the game, but instead, we put ourselves in a difficult situation and then took the brunt of it.

It appears that until Pochettino takes conduct, the situation will continue as it has now become regular. We give goals away far too readily, so even if we win, we won’t be content with the lead because we’ll continue to throw goals away.

After an extended absence, Silva made his starting lineup return, and his presence was felt when he gave the Blues the lead. However, that was insufficient. After the game, the Brazilian was quick to address the fans and thanked them for supporting them in another frustrating draw.

Silva’s arrival provided the Blues with much-needed stability and control at the back. But we can’t keep relying on Silva, who might be playing his final season, so we need our young defenders to come up. Our young centre-back lacks that Aggressivness, which is crucial in the Premier League. Our defenders need to be assertive, who can challenge the ball and put attackers in discomfort, even if they are short.

Martinez of Man United may be not much in stature, but he will certainly give McBurnie a hard time. We need more aggression in the back. Only Fofana has it, but ever since coming to us, he has been prone to injuries. Thiago future remains unsure about the upcoming season. Hopefully, we sign a proper centre-back next season.
