Premier League rival Tottenham keen on buying Patrick Dorgu but the Serie A star ‘dreams’ of playing for Chelsea
Tottenham Hotspur joins the race for the signing of the Serie A star defender Patrick Dorgu who plays for Lecce. But according to TuttoSport via Sports Witness, the Lecce defender “dreams” of moving to Chelsea.
The reports states that the Blues don’t consider him on their priority list currently but Tottenham are keen to sign Dorgu. Despite just being 19 years old, he has established himself as one of the league’s top offensive fullbacks.
According to Tuttosport (h/t Sport Witness), Spurs are one of the teams that will battle with Juventus for the defender. The Serie A star would be a highly useful asset to any club he would play for.
Dorgu’s dream is Chelsea
The left-back has already voiced his admiration for the Blues, and he reiterated his desire to join Chelsea earlier this month. A few weeks ago he said:
“I have been a Chelsea fan for many years, so of course it’s clear that it is a dream. That’s not to say I can’t switch to other teams in the Premier League, but even if things aren’t going so well for them right now, they’re my team.”
Despite having a long-held desire to play for Chelsea at some point in his career, he is aware that the opportunity may not arise in the near future, which is why he is open to other teams when the time comes to leave Lecce.
According to the source, Lecce is asking for a minimum of €20 million, but it might swiftly escalate to substantially more. There are plenty more teams in the race, including AC Milan and Atletico Madrid. It was claimed in November that Chelsea were interested in signing the now-19-year-old, with it stated that negotiating with him would be the easiest part.
The defender has created a name for himself in the football world, appearing 29 times for Lecce this season, scoring two goals and providing one assist. The young defender must look to join the club where he will get regular first-team action.
Chelsea has an edge over other rivals if they ever want to go for the Serie A star defender. But, In the end, money talks, and unless the Blues can sell one of their current choices at left back, it may be difficult to justify purchasing another.
