In a 2-2 draw with Aston Villa, when Morgan Rogers gave the hosts a two-goal lead in the first half, the player was pictured copying Cole Palmer’s celebration, rubbing his shoulders and shivering in the same manner that the Chelsea star has been doing for the Blues this season.
However, the youngster revealed he didn’t copy Palmer’s celebration and revealed that he was in-fact, the original owner of that celebration. It appeared Rogers was mocking Palmer, who had become famous for his celebration.
The 21-year-old Blues ace has enjoyed a breakout season, scoring 20 goals in the Premier League, and is easily pour most lethal finisher in front of the goal. Whenever he finds the back of the net, he folds his hands around his shoulder like he is feeling cold, and the celebration has been named ‘’Cold Palmer.’’
But Rogers’ intention wasn’t to mock Palmer, as after the game he revealed to the press that it was first his celebration and told reporters via Football.London:
“He definitely copied me. It’s my celebration. Check the timeline; I did it first.”
While goal celebrations may seem like minor details in the grand scheme of football, they can often add an element of fun and personality to the game. It’s not uncommon for players to draw inspiration from their peers or even create their own unique celebrations based on personal preferences or experiences.
A player’s performance on the pitch ultimately outweighs any celebrations they may partake in. Ultimately, it’s the goals scored, assists provided, and overall contributions to the team’s success that truly matter in football. Celebrations may be entertaining for fans, but they’re just a small part of the game albeit an iconic one.
Palmer’s impact on the team has indeed been significant, and his performance against Aston Villa showcased his skill and determination. While he came agonizingly close to securing a win for Chelsea with that late chance, his ability to beat defenders and create scoring opportunities demonstrates his value to the team. Despite the missed opportunity, the Englishman’s contributions throughout the match should be acknowledged, and his presence on the pitch continues to be a positive for Chelsea.
Palmer’s celebration has indeed become synonymous with his name, and his impressive goal-scoring record this season speaks volumes about his talent and impact on the team. At just 21 years old, his ability to find the back of the net consistently for Chelsea is a testament to his skill and maturity on the field.
Scoring 20 goals for a team facing challenges highlights his determination and effectiveness as a forward. It’s clear that Palmer’s contributions have been invaluable to Chelsea, and he continues to prove himself as a formidable force on the pitch.
