Chelsea legend John Terry reacts on social media to Alfie Gilchrist’s milestone display after the amazing night against Everton
Chelsea legend John Terry heaps praise on the star, 20-year-old Alfie Gilchrist, after Chelsea’s ‘night to remember’ against Everton. The Blues grabbed a staggering 6-0 victory in the Premier League clash.
In December, the former Chelsea captain predicted ‘great things’ from the kid in the near future. Following the Everton game, the veteran lavished praise on Alfie, as John Terry’s prediction came true as the youngster scored his first goal for the senior Chelsea squad.
Stamford Bridge was already jumping after Cole Palmer’s first-half hat-trick propelled them to a commanding win, and three more goals fired in the second half, making it a memorable night for the Blues.
Terry’s comment on Alfie’s Instagram post
After the amazing display of talent by the young star, Alfie took to his Instagram account to post a celebration post for Chelsea’s amazing victory. He wrote:
“Unforgettable moment. From the stands to the pitch, proud to score my first Premier League goal for the club I have always supported. Grateful for all the love and support. This is just the beginning!”
Alfie Gilchrist also added four pictures to his post from the memorable night. In the post, Chelsea legend John Terry commented, tagging the young star and adding three emojis to congratulate the young talent’s performance.
Gilchrist calmly fired his shot into the bottom corner past a hapless Jordan Pickford, then dashed off to celebrate enthusiastically before his Chelsea teammates gathered around him. Chants of ‘he’s one of our own’ echoed across Stamford Bridge.
Alfie Gilchrist not only impressed John Terry, but now the squad, the boss, and the fans also love him. The Chelsea academy has become renowned for producing players who have gone on to have an impact on the first team in recent years.
The Blues have Academy players such as Reece James, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Tammy Abraham, and Callum Hudson-Odoi. They have had an influence not just on Chelsea but also on other Premier League and European teams.
