A View From The Bridge

Former Chelsea defender asks the club to sign these two Manchester United players in the summer

William Gallas advocates for Chelsea to pursue Manchester United duo in summer transfer window

Former Chelsea defender William Gallas believes that the club should look at bringing Manchester United duo Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford to Stamford Bridge in the summer.

The West Londoners enjoyed a sweet victory against the Manchester Reds last week, one that will stay in the memories of the Blues’ faithful for a long time. Although the trend of inconsistencies on the field for Mauricio Pochettino continued as they dropped points against relegation-threatened Sheffield United this weekend, Chelsea were leading twice, and they went on to concede twice as points were shared at Bramall Lane.

It was a difficult draw against Sheffield at the weekend.

The outcome at Sheffield only increased pressure on the Argentine coach, who stated following the final whistle that he may need up to five years to address his team’s flaws.

While Todd Boehly faces the prospect of another revamp in the upcoming window, William Gallas has urged the club to consider a move for Manchester United’s star players. The 46-year-old insists that Bruno Fernandes can help resolve a number-ten issue at Stamford Bridge while also bringing leadership to an inexperienced side.

Speaking to Gambling Zone, Gallas said:

Both Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes could be good options for Chelsea. Both are quality players. Bruno could definitely be the kind of midfielder who has the quality to play in the number ten role where Chelsea lack strength.

‘Chelsea are a team of young players and Bruno Fernandes has the leadership qualities to get through certain periods.’

While Gallas speaks out of pure lucrative best-case scenario prospects, any move that brings either one or both of them from Old Trafford seems difficult and pricey.

The upcoming summer window will be a big one for Chelsea, as they look to restructure the team as per Pochettino’s demands, provided that he stays at the club beyond the summer.
