€35-40m-rated Chelsea loanee ‘very comfortable’ at new club, wants permanent transfer this summer

Chelsea star loanee Ian Maatsen says he is very comfortable at his new club Borussia Dortmund and wants a permanent transfer this summer

According to Metro, Chelsea loanee Ian Maatsen wishes to leave the Blues and permanently join his new club, Borussia Dortmund, this summer as he feels very comfortable and enjoy playing at the club.

The left-back joined Dortmund on loan during the January transfer window. The German club, where he routinely plays under manager Edin Terzic, seems eager to keep him at the Westfalenstadion.

Maatsen scored his first-ever Champions League goal this week, helping Dortmund advance to the semi-finals. Blues supporters believe it would be a mistake to release him.

Maatsen’s words after his performance in the Champions League match

After the Atletico encounter, Maatsen stated that he was motivated to establish himself as a regular at Stamford Bridge before joining Dortmund on loan. Earlier this week Maatsen told CBS Sports (h/t Metro):

“I always believed I could play for Chelsea but unfortunately for some reason it didn’t work out how it should’ve. Now I’m here I’m very grateful for the opportunity. I can say I’m very proud of myself.”

“I kept believing in myself and came here to experience playing my game at the highest level, playing my game. Today I think I showed a very good performance. I’m very happy.”

Chelsea’s star loanee now wants to leave his parent club permanently. That’s according to fresh reports in Germany which have claimed that Maatsen has a release clause of €35–40 million.

Ian Maatsen played the season on loan at Burnley, helping Vincent Kompany’s team win the league title and being selected to be in the Championship Team of the Season. A great achievement for the loanee.

He clearly is a talented one for sure

The west Londoners were open to a sale in January but Maatsen ended up moving to Dortmund on loan. Maatsen, who has made 17 appearances for Dortmund, appears to be likely to leave the club at the conclusion of the season if a deal with Chelsea is reached.

It would be an important sale for Chelsea, as they are looking to balance their books to avoid any PSR rule breaches. However, the club’s supporters are pleading not to let go of the loanee. They realize the worth that Maatsen carries and do not think it would be the best idea to offload him.
