Armando Broja could give Chelsea a massive revenue boost in the summer window, as Crystal Palace are open to signing the forward but only under the proviso that they will not pay the £50 million asking price set by the Blues.
As per journalist Simon Phillips (subscription required), via Football.London, the West Londoners are open to spending £20 million to sign the 22-year-old; however, the Blues could demand more after slapping £50 million on his price tag.
The Blues academy player is currently on loan to Fulham, where he has barely featured for them, which saw the Cottagers give the West Londoners a £4 million loan fee. Chelsea inserted a clause where Fulham had to pay the club £4 million if Broja didn’t start in 10 matches.
Chelsea are looking to balance their financial book in the upcoming window and are open to selling plenty of their academy players. The likes of Conor Gallagher, Ian Maatsen, Marc Cucurella, and Trevoh Chalobah have already been put on sale by the club.
And now, if the West Londoners accept their fee, Broja might be another player to depart from the team where he spent his formative years in the summer. The Albanian striker has seen less playing time since Nicolas Jackson and Christoper Nkunku joined the team.
The Blues, meanwhile, made the decision to loan the 22-year-old in order to bring in a little cash, and they now stand a good chance of making a healthy profit from his departure.
However, the Blues may have to lower Broja’s price tag, as it’s unlikely Palace will meet his asking price given that the striker has barely played this season. He was loaned to Fulham in hopes of getting more game time, but it has turned out to be the other way around, and now he is just a bench warmer for them.
The Blues may have to accept what Palace are willing to spend because Chelsea have already decided that they are unlikely to keep the forward next season and instead cash in on him and generate profit to balance the books.
