Cole Palmer becomes first Chelsea player to boast 25+ goal involvements since Eden Hazard
As per Squawka, Cole Palmer set another record as a Chelsea player after his assist in the Blues 2-2 draw with Sheffield United. The former Manchester City contribution saw him become the first Chelsea player to be directly involved in 25+ goals in a single Premier League season since Eden Hazard (31) in 2018/19.
The 21-year-old has been the most impactful Chelsea player since joining the club; it makes one wonder who was the last Chelsea player to have so much influence during the games, and it was certainly Hazard.
The Blues have been trying to identify a player with the same implications as Hazard since he left, and it appears they have discovered one in Palmer. Palmer leads the Premier League in goals scored this season with 16, just three fewer than league leader Erling Haaland.
Palmer has continued to be Chelsea’s X factor throughout the team’s dismal season, and he is currently showing to be the most noticeable player. He’s enjoying one of his best seasons as an individual, and it’s incredible how he transformed the game’s trajectory.
The Blues have signed a generational talent, and what is even more exciting is that he is just 21 and has shown so much maturity in his performance that you notice in a handful of such young players in modern football. He boasts the qualities to change the course of the game on his own.
Now he has already become the first Blues player to be involved in 25+ G/A this season since Hazard, which speaks volumes about his performance and how incredible he is. When you deepen it down, the last time a player was involved in this many goals and assists was back in 2018–19. Since then, we have failed to find as impactful a player as Hazard.
