Chelsea loanee Lewis Hall is a player to watch out for and the youngster looks set to embark upon a new chapter with Newcastle United.
Hall joined the Magpies on loan last summer on a season long deal. However, a clause was added to the contract that would make the arrangement permanent should Eddie Howe’s side finish 14th or higher in the Premier League and for the 19-year-old to be named in 30 or more matchday squads.
Both criteria have now been met, meaning the Magpies are set to secure Hall in a deal worth £28million. It represents a significant windfall for the Blues as they attempt to work around the FFP regulations.
The 19-year-old came through the ranks at Chelsea but is now set to continue his senior career on Tyneside. According to Chronicle Live, Hall is not upset at the option and is indeed keen and excited to make the most of his opportunity.
The youngster believes Newcastle are now a side whose ambitions line up with his own. The Magpies, infused with middle eastern financing are keen to shatter the footballing order and occupy the top position. There is little doubt in Hall’s mind that they are on the right track.
“The future looks really good for the club with so many young and talented players. It is going in the right direction.”
Primarily a left-back, Hall is not averse to play anywhere he is asked to. In fact, his versatility and openness to do the job required is a solid trait for a player who is keen to make an impact.
“I like to be versatile and play in other positions if required.”
This should endear him to the Geordie fanbase and will hold him in good stead going forward. Having struggled with injuries this season, the 19-year-old has not quite been able to have a steady run in the first XI. With better opportunities, he could make a bigger splash.
With Ben Chilwell and Marc Cucurella already at the club, Hall’s chances of breaking into the first XI was rather remote at Chelsea. The Blues now find themselves in the same position Manchester City did regarding Cole Palmer. Whether Hall too will make a similar impact remains to be seen.
