Chelsea handed a major blow as star attacker Cole Palmer is doubtful to appear in the clash against Arsenal
According to ESPN, Chelsea star Cole Palmer is uncertain for the Blues’ upcoming Premier League clash against Arsenal on Tuesday evening. He missed Monday’s training session due to illness, casting doubt on his availability for the crucial match.
Palmer has been a standout performer for Chelsea this season, consistently delivering remarkable performances. With 20 Premier League goals and nine assists in 28 games, he has been instrumental in Chelsea’s campaign.
In their recent league fixture against Everton, the 21-year-old showcased his prowess by scoring four goals in Chelsea’s resounding 6-0 victory. Despite sustaining an early knock in Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City, Palmer played the full 90 minutes at Wembley after strapping his thigh.
Chelsea could be without top scorer Cole Palmer for Tuesday’s clash against Premier League leaders Arsenal, with the forward struggling to recover from illness. Manager Mauricio Pochettino said:
“Today, no he cannot play. We will see tomorrow morning. Today, I don’t believe he can be involved. Even if he is good tomorrow, maybe he is not in a condition to play. We hope he can recover from this situation and be involved with the team.”
Chelsea could potentially face further defensive woes ahead of their upcoming fixtures, with full-back Malo Gusto picking up an injury late in the game against City and subsequently being substituted. Meanwhile, Ben Chilwell’s fitness status is currently under assessment, adding to the uncertainties in Chelsea’s defensive lineup.
Mauricio Pochettino’s tenure at Chelsea has been marked by the challenges of managing a squad plagued by injuries. The latest setback comes with uncertainty surrounding the availability of a key forward for an important upcoming match.
Additionally, Pochettino continues to contend with the absence of several players on a long-term basis, including Christopher Nkunku, Romeo Lavia, Levi Colwill, Wesley Fofana, and captain Reece James, with their return dates still uncertain.
