Alan Smith has credited Mikel Arteta with helping Kai Havertz find the best position where he can get the former Chelsea star in her best form this season. The German international joined the Gunners from Chelsea last summer.
However, Smith, who has lauded the Arsenal manager for assisting the 24-year-old, said that the former Bayer Leverkusen player struggled against the odds but eventually seemed to have recovered his form.
Havertz, meanwhile, spent an average amount of time with Chelsea and was unable to make a significant impact despite spending three seasons there. Following the change of ownership, they made the decision to reorganise the team and concentrate on acquiring young players. Many players were sold as a result, including academy players.
Havertz joined Arsenal but didn’t make an instant impact, though he now seems to be having an influence on the pitch after Smith praises Arteta for helping Havertz find his form, speaking to Sky Sports he said:
‘’Havertz didn’t know what he was doing at Chelsea despite the coaches there, but Arteta has made up his mind and body, and now he is answering the call and performing well.’’
Well, scoring nine goals is an achievable thing for a striker, so it was a bargain for us when we signed Nicolas Jackson, who has scored the same amount of goals as Havertz in his debut season in the Premier League. Meanwhile, Havertz has been in the English top-flight league for three seasons and should be exceeding expectations.
We don’t understand all the excitement around Havertz. Nothing unusual from the Chelsea version has been observed. He simply contributes sporadic goals to a solid club. When the team isn’t playing well, he fails to operate effectively. Havertz seemed like a respectable football player when he steadied Chelsea and won the UCL under Tuchel. He returned to his default setting as soon as the team began experiencing problems.
He is the type of player who fails to make an impact if the team is collectively struggling. Nothing noteworthy. He isn’t the team’s leader, unique, or a prolific player. Nine goals is hardly much for a forward who has spent three seasons in the Premier League, but he is enjoying an ok season.
