A View From The Bridge

24-year-old Chelsea star tipped to leave this summer as Mason Mount mistake could be repeated

Conor Gallagher tipped to leave Chelsea in summer window to aid club financially

According to the Sun, via Eurosport, Chelsea academy player Conor Gallagher could leave the club during the summer transfer window to help the club raise funds. His exit could be similar to that of Mason Mount, who joined Manchester United in the last summer window.

The Blues are currently walking on the thin line of the Premier League Financial Fair Play rule, and the club has been advised to sell the players before making any signings in the upcoming transfer market.

The West Londoners see Gallagher as a big asset whose sale will generate substantial profit. Cheslea made the same decision with Mount, who was sold for financial reasons as the club wanted to make revenue in order to comply with FFP.

And now the 24-year-old is on the line to be sold in the summer window, but the midfielder has so far resisted saying that he doesn’t want to leave the club. However, the owners will have to make some tough decisions in order to avoid breaching FFP.

The Blues have spent exorbitant money since becoming the owner of the club, but now that other Premier League clubs have been charged with breaching profitability and sustainability rules, the Blues will be careful with their expenses in the upcoming market.

Since the England international has blossomed and is currently the most important player in the team, this will not sit well with supporters. The Blues owners will now need to take a new and prudent approach to their recruitment process in order to avoid making large summer window commitments. It would be preferable if we sign more seasoned players as opposed to rookies and make wise spending.

Conor Gallagher could be sold in summer just like Mason Mount.

It is unfortunate that Chelsea might have to sell Gallagher to meet FFP requirements. Mount was the first academy who was seen as a sellable player to help the club generate profit and now Gallagher could be the next player to be traded. Owners who have spent carelessly since joining the club and are now having trouble adhering to the FFP should take the blame for this.

More Chelsea news

The Blues owners are undoubtedly alarmed by this, given they have recklessly overspent during previous transfer windows and now run the risk of going over FFP. Now signing young players hasn’t exactly shown favourable results, they ought to have been more strategic with their expenditures and signed players.
