According to Calciomercato, Manchester United manager Sir Jim Ratcliffe has advised the club to keep an eye on Juventus centre-back Gleison Bremer amid interest from Chelsea, Liverpool, Newcastle, and Tottenham Hotspur.
Bremer is enjoying an impressive season with the Serie A club, and his exploits have caught the attention of top Premier League giants. The 27-year-old has been terrific for the Old Lady, and his defensive traits have seen Juventus allow only 23 goals so far this campaign.
His protective techniques have been the buzz of the town; therefore, it will be intriguing to see if Juventus can hang on to the centre-back as interest from other European teams grows.
Bremer’s prospect of staying with the Turin-based club also depends on their ability to qualify for the Champions League next season, as they are third in the Serie A table and have only won two points in their last three games.
It is also understood that Juventus are open to selling the defender as they want to comply with their financial situation. The Brazilian centre-back has a £43 million and £49 million asking price, which is affordable for every interested club and will make the race for his signing even more intense.
Chelsea are set to look for another defender, as they want to replace Thiago Silva, who is likely to leave the Blues next season.
Furthermore, it will be more effective to cope with our inconsistent and erratic defence by bringing in an accomplished defender rather than purchasing a young centre-back.
Opposing teams have found it easy to exploit the Blues’ defence, therefore in order to assemble a formidable defence, we need to locate defenders who can provide consistency and strength. Bremer checks all the requirements; he can play on both sides of the defence lines, and his experience will be beneficial to other young players who have had difficulty performing on the pitch.
His value seems affordable and all the clubs won’t face many issues in shelling out to meet his price, thus the competition will be fierce. Therefore Chelsea will have to be quick the process if they want to sign him next season.
