Shakhtar chief tells Chelsea how to unleash Mykhaylo Mudryk

Shakhtar Donetsk CEO Serhiy Palkin says Chelsea needs to invest personal time in developing Mykhaylo Mudryk

Shakhtar Donetsk CEO Serhiy Palkin has offered a word of advice to Chelsea and Mauricio Pochettino’s management regarding unleashing Mykhaylo Mudryk’s potential for the West London club.

Since arriving at the club, the Ukrainian forward has struggled to hit the ground running. Mudryk was signed with great anticipation after his performances for Shakhtar. The Blues spent £85.5 million on his signing, but the 23-year-old is yet to live up to that price tag.

It’s evident that signing a player from a league that differs significantly from the Premier League comes with its challenges. The forward was still in the developmental stages when signed and needed some time to reach his full potential.

Mudryk’s talent is undeniable, but unlocking his full potential may require personal investment from Pochettino. Despite scoring four goals in all competitions this season, his inconsistent performances have been a focal point of discussion. Shakhtar CEO Palkin has offered advice on how to help Mudryk reach his potential, speaking to beIN Sports. (h/t Football.London), he said:

“I can tell you that, for me, Mudryk is the most talented and unique player in the world. I believe that in order to get the maximum from Mudryk, as they anticipate, you need to invest in him. And these investments are not money. The investment is time with the coaching staff to communicate with him and to work closely with him.”

Will Mudryk ever live up to his price?

Palkin’s observation that certain players need individual development is accurate; Mudryk appears to be the type of player who will require personalized coaching from the Chelsea manager to fully develop his potential.

Although Mudryk possesses tremendous potential that has not yet been fully utilized, we are now in the second half of the season, and if he doesn’t receive enough opportunities, his future at the club could be in jeopardy.

Hopefully, Pochettino will allocate some personal time to Mudryk and help him regain his confidence. Once he finds his form and delivers consistent performances, we will have a top star on our hands.
