PSG outmuscling Chelsea in the race to sign Serie A’s in-form striker

Paris Saint-Germain leading Chelsea in pursuit of Victor Osimhen

According to Calciomercato, Paris Saint-Germain are leading the race to sign Chelsea target Victor Osimhen. The Napoli striker has been in the eye of many European clubs, and the Blues have earmarked the Nigerian signing as a priority acquisition next summer.

However, Chelsea have been hit with a blow as PSG are now in the driver’s seat, and it is believed they can prevail in the race to sign Osimhen in the summer window. The 24-year-old signed a new contract with a release clause of £113million.

Given the uncertain future of Kylian Mbappe, PSG are already looking for his replacement, and Osimhen is one of the candidates to replace the French star. Meanwhile, the Blues have long been courting the former LOSC Lille star, and it remains to be seen if the West Londoners will be able to win the race.

Chelsea are already under Premier League FFP watch, and if they are to once again spend heavily in the coming summer window, so in order for them to turn a profit, they will first need to get rid of a good number of players. Additionally, this might cause them to hold off acquiring Osimhen, providing PSG with an open avenue to get him.

PSG always outbid opponents with their financial muscle!!

Furthermore, the West Londoners’ incapacity to score goals this season is mostly due to their ineptness in front of goal. Though there have been noticeable improvements, the team still needs a striker who consistently scores goals and is reliable.

PSG are ahead of Chelsea in the race for Osimhen.

Next summer, Osimhen will have to make a significant choice. PSG may be able to outbid Chelsea because of their stronger finances and ability to provide a higher wage. The last time we saw the Blues walking away from the race was when PSG went to tremendous measures to sign Manuel Ugarte.

More Chelsea news

In order to solve their disastrous goal-scoring problems for the upcoming season, Chelsea will undoubtedly need an explosive striker, so it will be intriguing to see how things work out in the summer. It will be another busy summer window, so if they are unable to sign Osimhen, they will need to look for other options.
