Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino says Newcastle United game will be important than the Leicester City match in the FA Cup
Mauricio Pochettino stressed how the Newcastle United game is most important for him on Monday at Stamford Bridge. The match was deemed more important by the Argentine boss than the FA Cup matchup with Leicester City.
He will be hoping his side bounces back from a frustrating 2-2 draw with Brentford last week, where the Argentine manager was booed off after the final whistle and didn’t also enjoy his birthday as he was so affected by the match.
However, he will have a chance to make corrections when the Blues host the Magpies. This season, we have spent more time in 11th place than in any other position, though this game will be a perfect shot to climb to ninth place momentarily.
Speaking to the media ahead of the game, Pochettino laid out the importance of the Newcastle game and said via Bein Sports:
“The most important thing is Monday. I don’t want to think about Leicester. It’s important because of the circumstances. We’re going to have three players less.’’
Although winning Monday tonight is crucial and relieves some pressure, Pochettino’s life at Chelsea hasn’t been easy due to our tendency to win one game and lose another which has put the brakes on our development. He is under a lot of stress, and it seems like every game will now be crucial for us because we don’t have enough time and the outcome of every game will determine whether we qualify for the European competition or not.
Facing Eddie Howe’s side hasn’t always been an easy task as they are more experienced and their physical attributes are the major reason why they always prevail in the game, but they are also dealing with several injuries so it will be a head-to-head game with them.

Pochettino will want us to play as a more physical and disciplined match. The previous time we played three at the back, it worked brilliantly, but individual mistakes lost us the game. If we can play three players at defence effectively and not make any rookie errors, then the game will be in our control.
