Malo Gusto inspired Chelsea to 4-2 win over Leicester City in FA Cup quarterfinal

Malo Gusto discloses what Chelsea did to see off Leicester City 4-2 in the FA Cup quarterfinal after the Foxes mounted a comeback from being 2-0 down in the first half to level the score at 2-2 in the second half.

It wasn’t all sweet and smooth en route to the semi-final, as Leicester almost inflicted a heavy, surprising defeat on them after coming from behind. Axel Disasi’s own goal from 50 yards gave purpose to the Foxes, who subsequently found an equaliser through Stephy Mavididi in the 62nd minute.

The right-back revealed that despite conceding two goals to the visitors, the Blues players continued pushing for a winning goal and eventually produced one after an impressive combination between Cole Palmer and Carney Chukwuemeka.

The Blues doubled their lead when Noni Madueke deliciously curled the ball to ensure the Blues secured their place in the semi-final matchup with Manchester City in Wembley. Speaking to the press after the game, the fullback shared how the Blues kept pushing in the second half and told BBC:

“The only thing we changed in the second half was staying together and keeping pushing. We just have to keep going; that’s what we did after.’’

The match was filled with mixed emotions; we were the far better side and rightfully took the lead, thanks to Nicolas Jackson, who just keeps on improving with each game. Then Raheem Sterling, enduring a poor evening, found Cole Palmer, who rifled the ball into the net. But the second half turned out to be a disaster when we conceded two goals from nowhere.

However, as Gusto stated, we persisted in our attack and were rewarded with a goal after exemplary play by Palmer and Chukwuemeka. Subsequently, Madueke demonstrated his individual talent by curling the ball outside the goal box, guaranteeing our advancement to the FA Cup semifinals, where we will take on Manchester City.

We’ve performed admirably in domestic cup competition, and now we have another chance to advance to the final, but it won’t be simple because we’ll be up against City. However, as Gusto said, we must never stop striving for greater outcomes.
