Journo says Chelsea could sacrifice multiple stars to retain Conor Gallagher

Ben Jacobs names Chelsea stars whose sale can help club retain Conor Gallagher

Transfer specialist Ben Jacobs names several Chelsea players who could be sold in order to keep Conor Gallagher in West London. Plenty of Chelsea stars, such as Ian Maatsen, Lewis Hall, Romelu Lukaku, and Armando Broja, are on loan to their respective clubs.

Meanwhile, the future of Trevoh Chalobah and Marc Cucurella remains doubtful, and if the Blues can sell the aforementioned players’, they can pocket £70 million to £100 million. The Blues will be alert with their spending during the summer window, as they hope to comply with the Financial Fair Play rule.

Before making any additions next summer, their initial focus would be to sell the players. Furthermore, the club may be able to make a respectable profit from their departure considering that they have loaned out a couple of the youth players, as Ben Jacobs explained on GiveMeSport:

“We mustn’t forget that Chelsea feel they can get £30 million or £35 million for Ian Maatsen. The obligation to buy for Lewis Hall is expected to kick in, and that’s £30 million plus. You’ve got Romelu Lukaku, whom Chelsea feel they can still get £35 million for. Trevoh Chalobah is surplus to requirements. Marc Cucurella, it’s not unthinkable that he would be sold for the right price.’’

‘’Armando Broja is for sale and on loan at Fulham. If that works out, perhaps Fulham would be prepared to drop £35 million or something in that ballpark. So if you discount Conor Gallagher and add up all of those other names and fees, even if just two or three of the four or five of those names were sold, that’s still going to be £70m to £100m.”

Chelsea’s budget is now quite tight, so any more extravagant summer window purchases could upset the Blues’ economy. January was the most recent indication that we prioritised loaning players rather than spending any money on player acquisitions.

And if the deals of Maatsen, Hall, Lukaku, and Broja are successful, then it can help us retain Conor Gallagher. Chelsea feels selling youth players can aid in making pure profit which has seen them loan the majority of the youth players last summer and in recent January.

Lukaku has been reticent to make a move in the most recent transfer window, so selling him will be a significant challenge. It will be the best course of action to find him a permanent club, and hopefully, there won’t be any obstacles in our way.
