A View From The Bridge

“It will be great”- Chelsea star excited to earn just his second national team call-up amidst blistering form

Chelsea star Cole Palmer says he is thrilled to be picked up once again for England senior team matches

Chelsea star Cole Palmer wasn’t shy about showing his excitement when asked about his second senior call-up for the March international break. The former Manchester City player was picked up by Gareth Southgate for England’s March games against Brazil and Belgium.

Palmer’s inclusion in the senior team demonstrated the qualities he has exhibited since coming to Chelsea, and he has rightfully received the chance to once again represent the Three Lions in March.

He has been relentless since joining Chelsea, and he continues to prove to us why he is the most deserving addition with each passing game. With a goal and an assist to lead the Blues to the FA Cup semi-final, where they will take on Manchester City, the forward once again stole the show.

Following his call for England’s March friendlies, the forward was thrilled to play again for the national team and shared how he felt for the second call-up via BBC:

“I’m looking forward to it; this is my second time with England; it will be great to see the lads.’’

Cole Palmer has 14 goals this season in all competitions.

Breaking into the England national team isn’t easy when they are spoiled with so many options in the attacking line. It’s really a headache to pick up players with their current form, and given that Phil Foden and Bukayo Saka are thriving for their respective teams, it makes it further challenging to choose whom to call for the national team matches.

And what Palmer has achieved this season with the West Londoners underscores how highly Southgate has rated the 21-year-old exploits, after he was picked up second-time by the Englishman.

Palmer certainly merited inclusion in the England team for the March friendlies because his blistering form speaks for itself, and the forward is just 21 and he has so much to offer going forward. With Euro 2024 also on the horizon, the former Manchester City attacker will have another chance to make the England squad for one of the biggest tournaments in June.
