A View From The Bridge

Injury News: The Chelsea stars slated for return against Burnley clash

A brief Injury Update as Chelsea return from the International break

Chelsea return to Premier League action as they host a struggling Burnley at the Stamford Bridge this weekend. Mauricio Pochettino & Co. doesn’t have much margin of error if they want to salvage something out of the ongoing season as they aim to give a final push for the European qualification and, hopefully, win a silverware as they have a date scheduled with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City at Wembley already.

The Blues are now readying up to play a relegation-threatened Burnley, followed by Manchester United, Sheffield United, and Everton, before the big game against Manchester City at Wembley next month.

Injuries has been a major cause of concern in the first half of the season, and having a fit and deep squad is very important to going long in the season.

Here is a bit of an injury update ahead of the Burnley game:

Cole Palmer suffered a minor knock but he should be available to face the Clarets.

Cole Palmer had a minor knock, which he seems to have shaken off, and should be fit and available for tomorrow’s game.

French right-back Malo Gusto gave a massive injury scare to the Blues faithful when he withdrew from France’s Under-21 squad last week. He is said to have been suffering from a virus when he pulled out of the French side, though he has recovered and should be fine for the Burnley game.

Robert Sanchez recently picked up a knock against Leicester City, which is supposed to keep him out for at least this month.

Trevoh Chalobah has started Chelsea’s last four games and seems to be getting into the groove under Mauricio Pochettino. He did pick up a knock, but the club are confident the 24-year-old is in contention to face the Clarets.

Romeo Lavia has been ruled out of the season as a combination of ankle and thigh problems has limited him to just one substitute appearance for the club so far.

Carney Chukwuemeka did draw away from England Under-21 duty early, with a club statement reading, Chukwuemeka has “returned early to work on his fitness at Cobham, as he looks to play a key role in the remainder of the season.” It doesn’t look serious from the sound of the statement, and he is expected to be available for the weekend’s game.

More Chelsea news

Levi Colwill has been serving the sidelines with a toe injury and there have not been any updates from either England or Chelsea about his availability. We have to see if he is ready for Burnley.

Chelsea have ample injury concerns going into the business end of the season and the Blues faithful will be hoping for some good news on injuries soon.
