Malo Gusto says he sees Chelsea star Thiago Silva as a father figure
Chelsea right-back Malo Gusto named Thiago Silva, who has helped the player rectify his flaws. Gusto says he has been the key figure in his development since arriving at the club.
Gusto joined Blues during the summer window and gained quick recognition. Due to an injury to Reece James, the French fullback assumed the role and has flourished in the absence of James.
His rapid acclimatisation to the league gave the impression that he had been playing there for years, rather than only joining last summer. In his debut season wearing the Blues uniform, Gusto has already tallied seven assists across all competitions.
The former has always been greeted by the other Blues’ teammates, who have made him feel at home at the club, and the former Olympique Lyon right-back named Silva, who has helped him a lot. Speaking to Chelsea’s website, he said:
‘‘He is a legend; he is like my dad. He has helped the team a lot because he has very good experience—a lot of football in great competitions. It’s a pleasure to play with him at Chelsea.’’
Young players benefit greatly from having seasoned players in the club, and bringing senior players is crucial for their flourishing. Silva has accumulated enough footballing experience throughout the course of his lengthy career to be able to assist other Chelsea players.
His background is helpful to those players who want to be among the top football defenders at Chelsea. However, in Gusto’s case, it seems like he has played with an air of experience given what he has done since joining the team.
