There is a deep room for refinement in the roster at Stamford Bridge following the difficult season Chelsea are enduring. Mauricio Pochettino’s men are at eleventh in the Premier League as a consequence of inconsistent performances this season. The spiral surge to already a difficult season was when Chelsea lost to Liverpool at the Wembley Stadium in the Carabao Cup final last weekend.
Looking at potential opportunities in the transfer market, Chelsea are prioritizing signing a striker in the upcoming summer transfer window according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano. Chelsea have felt a lack of cocksure quality upfront this season especially with Christopher Nkunku missing the majority of the season with an injury while Nikolas Jackson has been an underwhelming presence in the number nine position.
In his weekly column for CaughtOffside, Fabrizio Romano emphasizes that signing a striker will be a priority for Chelsea when the summer transfer window comes around.
The Italian transfer influencer did not bring up any names in particular that Chelsea would be looking to sign but he was responding to a question about the Londoners’ interest in Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville and suggested how the Blues would be prioritizing more of a central role.
“Despite rumours, I’m not aware of any contacts or negotiations over Crysencio Summerville at Leeds. Chelsea’s priority for the summer remains a central striker, but let’s see who else they look at. There are really many clubs following and monitoring Crysencio in the Premier League and other leagues, so let’s see if Chelsea decide to join them, but I’m not aware of anything concrete on this at the moment.”
There have been multiple strikers that are linked with a move to Stamford Bridge. Nigerian duo Victor Osimhen and Victor Boniface have been associated with Chelsea with former Chelsea legend Mikel John Obi claiming that the former can make a move to Stamford Bridge in the 2024 summer window.
Ivan Toney, Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres are a list of other names that have been linked with a move to West London.
The summer transfer window will be conclusive for Nikolas Jackson, Broja, and David Datro Fofana’s future while it is to be seen whether Chelsea sign a striker.
