A View From The Bridge

Cole Palmer congratulates Chelsea teammate on ‘birthday win’ after solid display vs Newcastle

Cole Palmer wishes Axel Disasi happy birthday as Chelsea defeat Newcastle United

Cole Palmer wished Chelsea teammate Axel Disasi a happy birthday on his Instagram story after the hard-fought 3-2 win over Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge. The Blues quest for victory commenced just six minutes into the game when Nicolas Jackson steered Palmer’s shot cleverly into the net.

After dominating proceedings for much of the game, Chelsea found themselves pegged back by Newcastle when Aleksander Isak unleashed a powerful curling shot past Dorde Petrovic just before halftime.

However, Chelsea quickly regained the lead through a spectacular volley from Palmer, leaving Newcastle goalkeeper Martin Dubravka with no chance. The Blues extended their advantage further when substitute Mykhaylo Mudryk capitalized on a defensive error, intercepting a pass from teammate Conor Gallagher before weaving past the Newcastle defense and calmly slotting home from a tight angle.

Despite Jacob Murphy’s late strike in the ninetieth minute, which injected a sense of hope for a Newcastle comeback, Chelsea managed to hold on for a hard-fought 3-2 victory, securing their 11th win of the season.

In the lineup, birthday celebrant Axel Disasi partnered with Trevoh Chalobah in defense. Both defenders displayed composure throughout the game, although conceding two goals from the Magpies was disappointing. Disasi’s growth since joining Chelsea has been evident, earning the trust of manager Mauricio Pochettino with consistent performances. His solidity at the back has seen him become a mainstay in the team, cementing his place in the starting lineup.

Disasi’s proficiency in building defensive partnerships has been instrumental in providing consistency for the Blues. Remarkably, he stands as the sole member of the team who has remained largely injury-free throughout the season, underscoring his reliability and durability. His presence has offered Mauricio Pochettino a degree of respite amidst the squad’s injury challenges, contributing significantly to the team’s stability at the back.

Despite being in his debut season in the Premier League, Disasi has demonstrated remarkable consistency and is pleased with his performance thus far. While he may have faced challenges and occasional dips in form, his commitment and development indicate that he has the potential to emerge as a top defender for Chelsea in the future. With time and experience, he is expected to further solidify his position and become a cornerstone of the team’s defense.

Palmer and Disasi continue to be key additions to a Chelsea side still discovering their best. They both appear to have a bonhomie that could very well prove to be decisive as Mauricio Pochettino puts together a winning squad.
