Chelsea ‘very interested’ in signing versatile Barcelona defender but face PL competition

Chelsea and Manchester United seriously keen on signing Barcelona defender Jules Kounde

Chelsea are heavily credited with a move for Barcelona star Jules Kounde, who could be available during the summer transfer window to aid the Spanish club in making some profit.

As per Sport, via ESPN, Manchester United are another club keen on signing the French centre-back, and both Premier League giants could indulge in a bidding war next season if the Spanish club puts the centre-back on the market.

Barcelona sporting director Deco is looking to put a few players on the market, and the former Sevilla defender could be offloaded to help the club financially. The Blues have long been keen on bringing the defender to Stamford Bridge.

They could once again look to bring the player in during the upcoming summer transfer window since Thiago Silva could leave the club when his contract expires after the end of the season. The Blues have also sounded their interest in signing Sporting CP defender Ousmane Diomande.

However, Kounde has shown no indication of leaving the club and wants to continue playing for the Catalan giants. However, if the interested parties submit a satisfactory bid, then Barcelona might be tempted to sell the defender.

The addition of Kounde will be a tremendous scoop because he is a versatile and experienced player, and we presently need more experienced players to assist Mauricio Pochettino’s team in progressing more swiftly. He’ll be a fantastic successor to Silva, who is probably going to leave in the summer.

Manchester United join Chelsea in the race for the signing of Jules Kounde.

In addition, he is a versatile player who can play on any side of defence and create strong partnerships with his centre-back teammates. Moreover, Barca aren’t doing well financially, and they are aware that Kounde has a great market value that can help the club generate enough revenue.
