Benoit Badiashile & other Chelsea stars line up to show support for Romeo Lavia after season-ending injury

Chelsea star Romeo Lavia set to miss the entirety of the season with a thigh injury

According to The Guardian, Chelsea summer signing, Romeo Lavia, will miss the remainder of the season due to a thigh injury. The former Southampton midfielder has only made one appearance since joining the Blues, and this season, he seems to have struggled to avoid injuries.

Although Chelsea outmanoeuvred Liverpool in signing Lavia, the midfielder, who was highly regarded, generated significant buzz upon his arrival at the West London club. However, things haven’t gone as smoothly as expected for the 19-year-old at Chelsea.

It’s a major frustration for the midfielder, who possesses considerable potential but has seen limited playing time this season. Chelsea’s medical team may bear some responsibility, as they may have failed to adequately assess the player’s fitness before deeming him ready for matches. The fact that he has suffered injuries despite his limited playing time raises significant concerns.

Lavia’s post was met with many supportive comments from his Blues teammates, such as Benoit Badiashile, Carney Chukwuemeka, and Ian Maatsen. The midfield player recently posted a picture of himself on Instagram, seemingly letting go of his emotions. The message read:

“Hi Chelsea family! As you may know, despite my countless efforts, I will be missing the remainder of the season. This has been a frustrating season for me, not being able to help my teammates. I love this squad, this badge, and being on the pitch more than anything. Trust that I have given my all every day to get back. Thank you for the love, support, and criticism because they all affect me positively and keep me going. I can’t wait to give it back and share many special moments together. See you soon.”

Return stronger, Lavia!

The supporting comments from Maatsen, Badiashile, and Carney on Lavia’s post acknowledge the club’s predicament and the players’ multiple injuries this season. During this campaign, Badiashile and Carney have both sustained multiple injuries. The Frenchman missed most of the previous campaign due to many injury issues. Therefore they are aware of the dire circumstances at the club and know that it is always beneficial to help fellow players during these difficult periods, by showing their support.

This is pretty bad news about Lavia. He has only played a game this season and now it’s a wasted campaign. If Ugochukwu isn’t now on the grass, he’s also not expected to return anytime soon. It’s time the board look into the medical division and sees why players keep picking injuries. This season, we have witnessed setbacks and recurrent episodes among returning injured players. This is not a random occurrence. With Nkunku, Ugochukwu, and now Lavia, Carney had it all.

We should consider adjusting our training routines and physical conditioning programs for the upcoming season, especially in response to the recent increase in muscle injuries. Additionally, we should focus on practising in a more confined space, smaller than the area between the offensive and defensive lines, to enhance our game management skills.

Mauricio Pochettino may consider adjusting his training regimen to reduce the risk of injuries and fatigue among the players. We can effectively win possession without excessive running by employing adjacent counter-press traps, which should suffice. This approach will help avoid overexertion and reduce the strain on the players’ legs during matches.
