Chelsea play Wrexham for US pre-season Tour
The current season is about to turn into the business end of the season which means that teams are already lining up friendlies to devise a method to prepare for the upcoming campaign in the best possible manner. Chelsea have already started planning ahead of the next season with a pre-season friendly against Wrexham at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California already premeditated ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.
This is the second time in as many pre-seasons that the two clubs will face each other in the United States as The Blues got better of Wrexham 5-0 in North Carolina last summer. The game is planned as a part of the pair’s tours of the United States with the fixture set to take place on July 24.
This will be one of the games of Wrexham’s tour of the United States called “2024 Wrex Coast Tour” where they will play three times. The details of the other two games are expected to be released by the EFL League Two side soon.
Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson spoke about the scheduled friendly against Chelsea: “We’re looking forward to returning to the United States for our summer tour, and the match at Levi’s Stadium against Chelsea promises to be an exciting and memorable occasion, as well as an important part of our pre-season preparations. It was a great privilege to meet fans in the US last summer, and we’re excited to see more of our passionate supporters in San Francisco in July.”
Chelsea will visit the States for the third successive season and according to a report by The Athletic, they are set to play Manchester City in Colombus, Ohio.
When the Blues landed on the US land last season (i.e. in 2023), Mauricio Pochettino’s side played five fixtures in North Carolina, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Maryland, and Chicago.
