Chelsea extend sensational 23-year old unbeaten record to 38 games after Newcastle win

Chelsea unbeaten record extended following Newcastle win

There has been a lot of negativity going around Chelsea these days and amid those comes a stat that reminds us of the Blues of old days and acts as major nostalgia for the supporters across the globe.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side have incurred an inconsistent season that sees them lying eleventh in the Premier League standings in the ongoing campaign, and the pressure to perform and get to European spots is mounting on the Argentine’s shoulders.

The West London-based club won at Stamford Bridge yesterday against Newcastle United in what was a nervy display. The game graced a bit of how good the Blues could be as well as the not-so-confident defending. Nicolas Jackson, Cole Palmer, and Mykhailo Mudryk were on target for the Blues in what was a chaotic Monday night game.

The win against Newcastle United yesterday adds to a twenty-three-year-old streak that has been burning at the cauldron of the Bridge. Chelsea have now been unbeaten in Premier League games in the month of March at home for 23 years, with a game breakdown of 32 wins and 6 draws.

Chelsea haven’t played any home games in March in the Premier League this season till yesterday’s fixture against the Tyneside-based side.

Todd Boehly’s side made a short trip to Brentford in a 2-2 draw against Thomas Frank’s side at the commencement of the month which was the only other Premier League game Chelsea played this season in March.

The Blues are supposed to host Burnley at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, 30th March 2024 in the Premier League. Mauricio Pochettino’s side will be hoping to win that one and continue the streak for another year while those three points will also come critical in the Premier League standings as pressure continues to mount on the former Tottenham manager.
