Chelsea make Mauricio Pochettino decision to avoid ‘dreadful’ Graham Potter repeat

Chelsea board backs Mauricio Pochettino to continue for entire season amid sack rumours

As Mauricio Pochettino comes under heavy scrutiny, the Chelsea board remains optimistic about the Argentine manager’s future and doesn’t want to repeat the same mistake they made with Graham Potter last season. As per Standard Sport, Chelsea wants to give the 52-year-old an entire season before deciding on his future.

The Blues appointed former Brighton & Hove Albion manager after relieving Thomas Tuchel of his duties. Everything was progressing smoothly under Potter and after the storm, the club sank into an untenable position from which it hadn’t yet recovered.

This saw Chelsea fans getting frustrated, and as the pressure reached over the roof, this forced the Blues to make the ultimate decision on his sacking. Frank Lampard was then made the interim manager for the remainder of the season, while the Blues were in talks with the likes of Luis Enrique, Julian Nagelsmann, and Mauricio Pochettino.

The former Tottenham Hotspur manager was the chosen one to take over the Blues job, and things haven’t looked different as Chelsea continue to lie in the 11th spot in the Premier League. The recent 2-2 draw with Brentford saw away fans jeering Pochettino, and Jose Mourinho’s name was also heard.

This is our second season and Blues fans have never been used to witnessing their team go through such hardship. Performance may have improved, but it hasn’t been steady, raising concerns about Pochettino’s managerial approach.

The manager is just going to be used as a scapegoat, so Pochettino will be picking up the blame left and right. He needs time, and things may have turned out differently if he had a well-rounded team with a mix of young and seasoned players. One of the worst decisions the team has made was to fire Tuchel, and it is now paying the price for it.

We were in the top four sides and played better under him. The board ought to take accountability for the numerous negligent decisions they made after witnessing the failed choices that didn’t help the club’s situation but have only made it worse.

Chelsea board backs Mauricio Pochettino for the entire season.

Though Pochettino’s arrival has brought some stability to the club’s performance. However, the team is still very young and even with a new manager, they won’t be quick to adopt his style and turn into an immediate winner, and now all we can do is wait.

It will be better to give Pochettino this season and see where he takes us. Then the board should decide on his future.
