Chelsea are battling with Manchester City for Serie A star Giorgio Scalvini
Giorgio Scalvini‘s global reputation and attractiveness in the transfer market are on the rise, all due to the great performance that the 19-year-old player has been showing in the Bergamasco team and catching the eyes of huge clubs like Chelsea and Manchester City.
This season, the star Italian center-back has made 26 Serie A appearances and helped Atlanta keep 10 clean sheets, making him one of Atlanta’s most outstanding players. As shown by FBref, he ranks in the 97th percentile for progressive passes, 96th and 92nd for tackles and interceptions, respectively.
The young defender, with his outstanding performance, has caught the eye of three of the Premier League’s giants: Chelsea, Manchester City, and Manchester United. The rivals will battle it out for his services this summer.
Talking about Premier League clubs, Scalvini told Corriere dello Sport (h/t Football Italia):
“For me it’s the best league there is, for the intensity. Once in my career, I don’t even know when, I’d like to play there.”
As the Italian star has revealed his desire to move to the English topflight, it could be a setback for Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan, and Juventus, who are also keeping tabs on Scalvini’s situation.
Chelsea must prepare for a future without Thiago Silva, who is in the last phases of his career and Scalvini could be a suitable option for the Brazilian international, as he possesses the physicality to succeed in the Premier League, and he may be an important player for Chelsea.
Atlanta demands a strong investment
It will be interesting to see if Chelsea and Manchester City can secure an agreement with the Italian club because Atlanta will not want to sell their prized prospect for a knockdown price, and they are likely to demand a premium. It will be interesting to see if Manchester City and Chelsea are prepared to break the bank for him.
