Fabrizio Romano has confirmed Chelsea loanee Lewis Hall and his loan move to Newcastle United is set to become permanent, which will see the Blues pocket a £30 million fee in the summer transfer window.
Last season, Hall enjoyed a revelation period under a variety of managers; his emergence looked promising as the left-back was the regular starter after the injuries to Marcu Cucurella and Ben Chilwell.
The 19-year-old’s performance was convincing enough to make sure that he will continue at the club under Mauricio Pochettino. The youngster also participated in the Blues pre-season tour to the USA. However, little did they know that he would be loaned in the summer window.
The Magpies bought the player on loan, and the Blues made sure they would profit from his loan exit, as they inserted an obligation on the fullback after the end of the season. Recent updates on his loan stint confirm the Magpies will trigger the buy-back clause to sign the player permanently.
This will guarantee the Blues’ first profit in the summer window, as they hope to generate revenue in the summer window. The club’s financial situation has forced them to avoid making any signings, as Chelsea failed to acquire any players in the January window.
From his performances in the previous season, it seemed likely that he would start for the first team. His maturity as a player and his performance manner suggested that he would be fighting Cucurella and Chilwell for the starting fullback position. It’s unfortunate, though, that the Blues chose to loan him during the most recent summer window without giving him a chance this season.
Nevertheless, the fullback’s move to Tyneside hasn’t paid off since he hasn’t played much this campaign and has mostly been benched, which is unacceptable for his talent. At just 19, he still has a long way to go before he is a seasoned fullback, so perhaps Newcastle will give him more opportunities the next season.
