Fabrizio Romano says Chelsea signing Bernardo Cueva is imminent.

Chelsea among the selected clubs to play in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup

As per Fabrizio Romano, FIFA have already revealed the clubs that have qualified for the FIFA Club World Cup. From Europe, Chelsea have secured their place alongside Real Madrid, Manchester City, FC Bayern München, Paris Saint-Germain, Inter Milan, Porto and Benfica.

However, this time the tournament will be much longer than expected. It has been revealed that 32 teams will participate in the matches, with the majority of them being from Europe. Previously, only one team from Europe would compete against sides from around the globe. Now, with the extension of the competition, Chelsea will also compete for the trophy next year.

The Blues have already secured the 2021 FIFA Club World Cup title when they clinched the Champions League in 2021. Clubs that have won the UEFA Champions League within the past four years are guaranteed a place in the tournament.

This time, 12 European teams will compete in the competition, with qualification based solely on performances in the Champions League over the past four seasons, from 2020–21 up to and including the current season.

Chelsea, having won only one FIFA Club World Cup in their history under Thomas Tuchel in 2021, will now have another opportunity to vie for the trophy.

Winning the FIFA Club World Cup is a tremendous honour, and Chelsea aims to secure another trophy next year. Despite past efforts, the club hasn’t been as successful in this competition. In 2012, they came close but fell short, losing 1-0 to Brazilian club Corinthians.

Indeed, there is still plenty of time before the competition, and circumstances can evolve. For now, our primary focus for this season remains securing a spot in European competition and striving to win a domestic cup.
