Axel Disasi admits to feeling ‘sad’ despite netting for Chelsea in Brentford draw

Axel Disasi reveals he was discontent with the Chelsea draw against Brentford

Chelsea summer signing Axel Disasi made his dissatisfaction clear in the Blues 2-2 draw with Brentford last week. The centre-back was also at fault when it led to the Bees’ first goal, as the Frenchman was late to reach to clear the ball.

Despite a promising start from the Blues in the first half, Brentford came in the second half as a different side, piled pressure on visitors, and deservingly scored their goal through Mads Roerslev. They extended their lead when Yoane Wissa scored a sumptuous bicycle.

Chelsea pushed for an answer as the game went on, and Cole Palmer nearly tied the score but missed the mark. In the 83rd minute, the former Manchester City player found Disasi at the far post, who nodded the ball in.

Chelsea watched another game slip through their fingers as the match ended in a draw, and Disasi who netted an equalizer wasn’t happy with the draw as he said via Football.London:

“Then, after halftime, they pushed, and we have to do better because we lost two points. I think we had the quality to win the game, so the feeling is a little bit sad.’’

It should have been a victory for us, but we gave up under pressure. This is not a new issue for this team; they always concede goals when they are slightly intimidated by the opposition, as was the case with Brentford.

They came as a newly formed side that exerted pressure to a great extent and scored the equaliser, and it was Disasi’s fault as he was too slow to react to clear the ball. Consequently, he made amends with an equalizer. But this game should have been an easy win for us because we missed a few big chances that would have decided the match.

Given that Jackson bungled a one-on-one opportunity against the custodian but later found atonement with a header goal, we ought to be ahead already. Palmer also ought to have done better with his opportunity when he sent the ball wide.
